Does AT&T provide insurance?
AT&T Mobile Insurance and Protect Advantage for 1 and 4 offer coverage for lost or stolen handsets, unintentional physical or liquid damage, and out-of-warranty issues. In some places, we also offer screen repair on a limited number of devices.
Will AT&T replace my phone for free?
AT&T’s 3G network will be decommissioned by February of next year. If you have a device that will no longer work on the network as a result of the shutdown, you may now acquire a free replacement phone from the firm.
We published a list of devices that will work on AT&T after the 3G shutdown late last month. If your device isn’t on the list, you’ll almost certainly need to replace it before February of next year. Thankfully, AT&T is offering a free replacement phone to those who want it (via Android Police).
That’s an AT&T RADIANT Core, a 2019 affordable phone that was first released as a viable choice for AT&T’s prepaid consumers. It normally costs $70, but it’s on sale for half that price right now. The phone has a 490p display, a single 5MP camera, 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot for up to 64GB of expansion, 1GB of RAM, and a 2,500mAh removable battery. It comes pre-installed with Android 9 Pie and, as you’d expect, VoLTE support.
Even though AT&T is giving it away for free, we don’t recommend getting the RADIANT Core. For practically everyone affected by the 3G shutdown, it will almost certainly be a significant decrease. It’s also unlikely to last long, so you’ll have to get a new phone sooner or later. AT&T also sells a number of additional devices that enable VoLTE and cost between $100 and $150. Alternatively, you may look through our list of the best cheap Android phones to find a handset that suits your needs better.
Does AT&T insurance cover cracked screens?
A certified technician will come to your home at your convenience to fix your screen. Appointments for screen repair can be booked the same day a claim is granted. The screen repair option will be offered in limited places and for limited devices at first, but we will be expanding to more areas soon. A list of qualifying places and devices can be found here.
In order to receive the screen repair service, customers must be registered in an AT&T device protection plan within 30 days of device activation or upgrade. You can register here.
Asurion provides a fresh 12-month warranty on the device after the screen is repaired. Call Asurion at 888.562.8662 if you have any queries concerning the warranty or screen repair.
*An $89 deductible applies to screen repair. Only qualifying devices in a few markets are eligible. Same-day repair appointments are available Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, pending technician availability in the applicable service region. To be eligible for same-day repair, your claim must be accepted before 2 p.m. local time. An Asurion-certified technician performs the repairs, which are covered by a 12-month warranty. Repairs might include new or refurbished parts, original or non-original manufacturer parts, and can invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty. Decreasing deductibles do not apply to screen repair, and choosing the screen repair option has no bearing on the customer’s declining deductible eligibility. Some colors aren’t covered on eligible devices. For a complete list of eligible devices and markets, which are both subject to change at any time.
**Mobile Insurance and Multi-Device Insurance are underwritten by Continental Casualty Company (CNA) and administered by Asurion Protection Services, LLC (in Iowa, Lic. #1001002300; in California, Asurion Protection Services Insurance Agency, LLC, CA Lic. #OD63161; in Puerto Rico, Asurion Protection Services of Puerto Rico, Inc.), a CNA licensed agent.
