How much is the deductible for phone insurance?

It can happen at any time. As you stroll down the street, you decide to make a phone call. Your arm is bumped by a passing person, and your phone slips from your grip. You stand helpless as it tumbles toward the harsh concrete in slow motion. You brace yourself for the impact and hope for the best. This time, not so much, as your touch screen develops a spiderweb of cracks.

According to AGiRepair, a firm that sells wireless device repair components to businesses, the cost to fix a broken screen, the most common repair, is $277 on average for a Samsung S8+ if you aren’t protected in some way. It might cost more than $90 if your power button fails. If your phone can’t be fixed, or if it’s been lost or stolen, you’ll have to buy a new one, which might cost anywhere from $840 to $1,149 for a top-of-the-line Galaxy S9+ or iPhone X.

With figures like these, it can seem like a good idea to insure your smartphone for repair or replacement, especially since rates can range from $7 to $36 each month. But, as appealing as that seems, it’s not that simple. You’ll have to pay a deductible for each claim you submit, which might range from $29 to $225. The majority of insurance providers limit you to two or three claims each year. If you need a replacement phone, your insurer may give you a refurbished phone rather than a new model.

What is a deductible fee?

The amount you pay out-of-pocket for covered health-care services before your insurance kicks in. For example, if your deductible is $2,000, you are responsible for the first $2,000 of covered procedures.

You normally only have to pay a copayment or coinsurance for eligible procedures once you’ve paid your deductible. The rest is covered by your insurance carrier.

  • Many plans cover some services, such as a checkup or disease management programs, even if your deductible hasn’t been met. Examine the specifics of your plan.
  • Even before you reach your deductible, all Marketplace health plans cover the full cost of certain preventative services.
  • Certain services, including as prescription medicines, have separate deductibles in some plans.
  • Individual deductibles, which apply to each person, and family deductibles, which apply to everyone in the family, are common in family plans.

Plans with lower monthly rates typically have higher deductibles. Deductibles are frequently lower in plans with greater monthly premiums.

How much is the deductible for iPhone 11?

When the iPhone X was announced in 2017, AppleCare+ was raised to $199 for the flagship model. Last year, the iPhone XS and XS Max remained at the same price point, with the iPhone XR’s protection package costing $149. Apple has updated its AppleCare+ details following its 2019 iPhone event, revealing that the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro would retain their AppleCare+ cost from last year.

The AppleCare+ price for the iPhone 11 Pro is $199, the same as for the iPhone X, XS, and XS Max. It comes with a two-year warranty that covers accidental damage. Last year, Apple added the option to buy loss and theft coverage, raising the price to $299. This year, the iPhone 11 Pro was reduced to $269.

For those who don’t want to pay the whole price up front, Apple also offers monthly payment. It does, however, charge more for monthly plans than for one-time purchases.

The iPhone 11 is covered by AppleCare+, which also includes the iPhone XR, 8 Plus, and 7 Plus. It’ll set you back $149. Last year, adding the cost of theft and loss took the total to $199, and Apple hasn’t said whether that will be the case this year.

The deductibles for the iPhone 11 series will remain the same, ranging from $29 to $269, according to Apple. The iPhone Upgrade Program may be worth looking at if you want to include AppleCare+ in the monthly cost of your new iPhone and enjoy upgrading every year. More information on AppleCare+ can be found here.

Liquid damage

The Liquid Damage Indicator (LDI) on mobile devices indicates whether the device has been exposed to liquids. When the indicator is new, it is white, but when it comes into touch with water, it turns pink or red.

  • The LDI can be found in a variety of places depending on the device. Open the Devices page, choose your device, and look for the Liquid Damage Indicator (LDI) page to learn more and see photographs.
  • The device is out of warranty because it is missing or has been tampered with. Third-party repairs that are not approved void the warranty and may result in the LDI being removed.
  • Batteries can bulge as a result of liquid damage. If the battery is bloated, pay special attention to the LDI.
  • The LDI is not visible on iPhones X and later. If you can’t find your LDI on an iPhone X or higher, please make sure it hasn’t been exposed to liquid.

Is it worth it to get phone insurance?

If the cost of replacing your phone will place a strain on your finances, phone insurance might be worth it. And, with the latest cellphones costing upwards of $1,000, this isn’t an uncommon occurrence. If your phone is lost or stolen, or if it is inadvertently damaged, insurance may be able to help. However, because cellphone insurance plans vary greatly in terms of cost and coverage, it’s wise to read the fine print before signing up.

Why does Asurion deny claims?

Asurion has totally sickened me, and I’m prepared to terminate my entire AT&T account as a result of them.

My wife received a top-of-the-line 256GB Pro Max.

While on vacation, she inserted a StraigtTalk SIM card in it, and it was taken during her trip.

Asurion is disputing the claim since the phone didn’t have an AT&T SIM in it when it was stolen.

They say that just the phone number is covered, not the gadget.

That is a complete load of nonsense.

Nobody has to pay for the phone number.

The phone, on the other hand, cost $1100, and I’m supposed to reimburse the amount with NO PHONE.

I assume there’s a major issue with individuals stealing other people’s phone numbers, right?

Yeah.

ALL THE TIME, I HEAR ABOUT PHONE NUMBERS BEING STOLEN.

NOT!

Take note of what I’m saying.

If I’m out $1100 and haven’t received a replacement phone, I’m canceling AT&T service, letting them take me to court, and allowing a judge to hear both sides.

I purchased the phone through AT&T and said that it would occasionally be used with a StraightTalk SIM.

“It’s no problem.”

I made ensured that the DEVICE was protected by insurance in the event of theft.

“It’s no problem.”

Does Asurion give you a new phone?

1. You kept insurance on a 3.5-year-old Android phone that you should have discarded after two years (if you carried it at all). If you save the $108 per year toward upgrading, you will lose any benefit after the second year. You paid over $400 over time, as you mentioned, but you could have bought a mint replacement or put it toward an upgrade.

2. Asurion’s contract language permits them to replace your phone with a similar device if one is available, which is always their first choice.

You sent in a used device that was 3.5 years old, and that’s what you got back.

If it works, it’s a good substitute.

3.Insurance is a personal choice.

I don’t believe it provides good value for money, so I’m skipping it.

We set aside $10 per phone per month as a savings account for future purchases.

My fund purchased a Google Pixel 2, a Razer phone, and a Oneplus 5t this year, as well as a Samsung Galaxy S8 (used off eBay for $400).
