You have the option to terminate your coverage at any time. To terminate your coverage, take the following steps:
There will be a 12-month purchase lockout, which means you won’t be able to buy TRICARE Reserve Select for at least a year.
Don’t Just Stop Making Payments

How long do you keep TRICARE after separation?
CHCBP is a Humana Military-managed premium-based health plan. After TRICARE or TAMP coverage finishes, CHCBP provides health coverage for 18 to 36 months. The benefits, providers, and program rules are comparable to those of TRICARE Select. If you meet the requirements, you can enroll in the CHCBP within 60 days of losing your TRICARE or TAMP coverage, whichever comes first. The day after you lose other TRICARE coverage, your coverage begins. Former spouses who haven’t remarried before the age of 55 may be eligible for supplementary CHCBP coverage.
Can I remove my spouse from TRICARE?
To do so, go to a local ID card office with a certified copy of the divorce decree or annulment. If the sponsor and eligible children want to change their TRICARE health plan after the divorce, they have 90 days to do so. You keep TRICARE if you and your service member spouse are separated or living apart but not divorced.

Are spouses automatically enrolled in TRICARE?
TRICARE coverage is available to the spouses of active duty, reserve, and retired military personnel. Spouses of reserve members must purchase TRICARE Reserve Select if they want TRICARE coverage. Dependents of active and retired members are automatically covered as soon as they enroll in DEERs. On the TRICARE website, you can learn more about that plan. Once enrolled in DEERs, same-sex spouses are also covered by TRICARE. When a spouse divorces their eligible sponsor or when the spouse of a deceased member remarries, they lose their TRICARE coverage. TRICARE coverage is not available to common law couples or cohabiting partners.
