BIMA is pleased to assist Tigo Ghana in making the award-winning Tigo Family Care Insurance product even more accessible by launching a shortcode that allows customers to self-register for the product without the need for an agent, physical signature, or any of the other cumbersome paperwork typically associated with traditional insurance policies in Ghana.
Subscribers can register by dialing *900# on their phones. Potential Tigo Family Care Insurance clients can get up to GHC 2,000 in coverage by registering via the shortcode or one of the other two registration channels: Tigo Customer Service Center or a Tigo insurance agent.

How does BIMA work?
Customers of BIMA pay for their products using their phones, prepaid airtime, monthly bills, or their mobile money wallet. They are protected for the following month once they have paid for the previous month.

What is the procedure for canceling my e-insurance subscription? You can cancel your policy by phoning BIMA at 03 20225555, sending OFF to 29999 by SMS text, or using the Celcom USSD menu (365*7*8#) and confirming your cancellation.
What is BIMA life?
If the worst happens, our BIMA Life solutions are designed to help customers and their families.
If a customer dies or becomes partially or permanently incapacitated, their beneficiaries will get a cash lump amount.
BIMA Life alleviates part of the financial strain on families that may lose family income or may pay hefty out-of-pocket funeral expenses.
How can I check my Tigo insurance?
When you are admitted to the hospital for two nights or longer, the plan pays you in cash. Tigo will compensate you with GHC 20 per night. Over the course of 20 days, you will be charged 7GP per day. All Tigo pre-paid customers have access to this service. You must be between the ages of 18 and 59 to be eligible. When you reach the age of 65, your coverage ends.
1. Sign up with any Tigo agent around the country. You must be healthy and between the ages of 18 and 59.
2. To activate your account, dial *550# to verify your registration.
3. After that, your coverage will begin on the first day of the second month following your registration.
4. During the first week of each month, you will receive an SMS informing you of your earnings. If you do not receive an SMS, dial 550.
The policy is automatically renewed each month if full airtime deductions are received. A monthly partial payment of GHC 0.70 entitles you to 50% of the full cover (GHC 10 per night).
After you’ve been discharged from the hospital and completed your claim, we’ll pay you in cash via Tigo Cash.
You must file a claim within 90 days of being admitted to the hospital. To find out how to file a claim, call our customer service hotline at 550. You’ll need your ID, as well as documentation that confirm your date of admission and discharge, both of which must be signed by a doctor (eg. excuse note, hospital invoice or a Tigo claims form). You can drop off your paperwork at any Tigo Customer Service Center. We process claims within 72 hours of receiving all required evidence.
What is Tigo Bima?
It’s never been easier to get life and hospitalization insurance. Tigo clients can use Bima Mkononi to quickly and conveniently enroll in the insurance coverage of their choice directly from their phone.
Customers can purchase a health policy that includes a full health package, inpatient hospitalization insurance, and a lump sum benefit for bone fractures or breaks.
A life and disability policy provides financial assistance to policyholders and their beneficiaries in the case of the policyholder’s death or incapacity.
Subscribers receive a single “flat” premium for all applicants between the ages of 18 and 69. Subscribers can pay using Tigo Pesa or cash at any Tigo customer care facility, and enrollment is paperless and takes only a few minutes.
