I hit a pedestrian by mistake while driving my automobile. Is BPI/MS Comprehensive Motor Insurance protected for third-party liability?
Yes! To safeguard against liabilities for accidents caused by others, BPI/MS offers two types of coverage:
CTPL (Compulsory Third Party Liability) When you register your car with the Land Transportation Office, you must have this minimum insurance coverage. This policy will pay for a person’s death, disability, and medical expenses if they are hurt in an accident caused by your car.
VTPL-BI (Voluntary Third Party Liability-Bodily Injury) This acts as an additional layer of protection on top of your regular CTPL, as it covers expenses that exceed the CTPL’s coverage limit. All BPI/MS Comprehensive Motor policies include this as a standard feature.
What happens if my vehicle damages someone else’s property? Is this something I’m covered for?
Don’t be concerned! BPI/MS offers VTPL-PD (Voluntary Third Party Liability-Property Damage), which protects you if your car causes damage to other people’s property. All BPI/MS Comprehensive Motor plans provide this coverage as well.
