Who pays better UPS or USPS?

At the post office, I found myself working longer hours for less pay. When I have a particularly difficult week with UPS, my pay reflects that. Both wage scales are open to the general public. That’s still decent; it just takes a long time to get there.

The UPS Union(Teamsters) vs Rural/City Union

Both jobs are represented by labor unions. There are multiple distinct unions for the USPS because they have diverse crafts. Even among mailmen. There are two types of carriers: rural and urban. A Rural will stand out because they will not be wearing a uniform.

They have a completely different work since when they finish their route for the day, they are paid a calculated fee and, if they are a regular, they can go home. A regular is a mailman who has served his or her time and has progressed in seniority enough to be granted additional privileges, such as their own route.

The NALC, which represents mail carriers, and the Teamsters, which represents UPS drivers, will be the most common unions. Unions vary in terms of size and leadership. The Teamsters, in my opinion, are stronger and more protective of their members.

How’s the work/life balance of these jobs?

What is this life?! Just joking. I believe that, depending on the staffing of your office, your work-life balance CAN improve if you become a regular at the Post Office. While many carriers in my town used to go home at 4:30 p.m., they’ve recently been forced to work a lot of required overtime. This, hopefully, will change.

Overtime is almost always expected at UPS. Especially if you’re in what’s known as a 22.4 position. This job was created to assist you in covering routes that you are unfamiliar with. You’ll usually be out a couple of times a week to see beautiful sunsets!

As a result, the harsh reality is that they are both deficient in this area. However, it’s best to be open and honest with people while they’re looking for these employment. They can be rewarding jobs, but you’ll have to pay for them with your time.
