The initial pricing of the iPhone was $499. Prices have risen dramatically since then. The most recent top-of-the-line iPhone can now cost upwards of $1500. It’s also not cheap to get them repaired. A shattered screen might cost up to $300 to repair. Even modest fixes can add up quickly. What’s the difference between insurance and AppleCare?
The basic level of AppleCare, on the other hand, does not cover any unintentional damage. AppleCare+ comes in in in this situation.
AppleCare+
AppleCare+ is $199 (or $9.99 per month for 24 months) for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, and $79 (or $3.99 per month for 24 months) for the iPhone SE (2020), and must be purchased at the same time or within 60 days of purchasing your iPhone. It will extend the usual one-year warranty to two years and provide phone assistance for the entire two-year period, rather than the standard 90 days. That means if you have a problem with your iPhone, you may contact 1-800-MY-APPLE and ask for AppleCare, or phone 1-800-APL-CARE directly.
Furthermore, if your iPhone is broken or falls into water, you have some further alternatives. AppleCare+ covers two occurrences in which you can swap your broken iPhone for a new one on the spot for a $29 deductible per screen or $99 deductible for any damage. Theft and loss are the two things that AppleCare+ does not cover unless you upgrade to AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss.
AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss
AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss allows you to pay a little more for the option of getting a replacement if your iPhone goes missing. AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss costs $299 (or $14.99 per month for 24 months) for any iPhone 11 series, and $179 (or $7.99 per month) for the new iPhone SE. gives you the same damage protection and service expenses as AppleCare+, but also allows you to replace a lost or stolen iPhone up to two times for a $229 or $269 deductible. You’ll have to pay full price for a replacement after that.
“You must have Find My iPhone enabled on your smartphone at the moment it is lost or stolen to be covered for theft and loss. Before you may be awarded a new device, you must wipe, disable, and transfer ownership of your lost device during the theft or loss claims process.”
Of course, living near an Apple Retail Store helps you get the most out of AppleCare+ or AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss. If not, you’ll have to send your iPhone to Apple for service. Going without a phone for an extended period of time might be difficult for many people unless they have a backup phone on hand.
AppleCare+ can also be purchased from Best Buy on a monthly installment plan for $7.99.
Can I still buy AppleCare after 60 days?
Still, if you want to purchase AppleCare+ later, you’ll need to pass a diagnostic test on the device in question so Apple knows it’s in good operating order. And, regardless of when you purchase your AppleCare+ plan, coverage begins on the day you purchase your device. So if you wait two months to buy the plan, you won’t get a “extra” two months of coverage.
You can bring your device into an Apple Store for an examination up to a year after purchase if you want to purchase an AppleCare+ plan after the 60-day period has expired. You will be able to sign up in person if the technician permits it.
How much does AppleCare cost?
AppleCare+ can be purchased at any time during the first 60 days of owning a new iPhone. Based on the model, here’s how the fees break down.
It’s worth noting that all plans with loss and theft insurance come with a $150 deductible that must be paid before you can acquire a replacement device. Even though we’ve listed prices for the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, they won’t be available until November 13th.
AppleCare+ could save you money if you’re prone to breaking or losing your phone. For example, instead of the $280 that everyone else pays, repairing a broken iPhone 12 Pro screen with coverage will cost you $230 ($30 plus the $200 lump-sum plan charge). For this reason, “The cost would be $300 instead of $550 for “other damage.”
If you lose your iPhone 12 Pro and have theft and loss coverage, the cost of replacement will be $420 ($150 deductible plus $270 plan charge). When you’re talking about a $1,000 phone, that’s a significant discount.
However, if you don’t lose or drop your phone frequently, the $200 to $270 coverage price may easily be money down the drain. If you pay on a monthly basis for the whole two-year period covered by the policies, you’ll pay between $240 and $324 for theft and loss coverage.
It’s also worth mentioning that AppleCare+ has some limitations. For example, it only covers two incidences of damage, loss, or theft over the course of two years. If you go above that, you’ll be charged up to $550 to repair an iPhone 12 Pro and will be responsible for the entire cost of replacement if it goes missing.
The policies do not cover damage caused by natural disasters “Reckless, abusive, willful, or purposeful conduct” is defined as “activity that is reckless, abusive, will So, if you were intending on driving your new phone over with a car to see how durable it is, don’t. If you don’t have Find My iPhone turned on when your smartphone goes missing, you won’t be able to collect on a theft or loss claim.
Remember that if you open up your iPhone to fix it yourself, your warranty will be voided, whether you have AppleCare+ or not.
Does AppleCare cover water damage?
Water damage is not covered by either the original one-year warranty or the two-year AppleCare+ extended warranty. AppleCare+, on the other hand, has a deductible and covers up to two incidents of hardware damage, including water damage. Regardless of whether you have AppleCare or AppleCare+, water damage is not covered.
Can you cancel AppleCare?
You can cancel your AppleCare plan under your device’s account settings. Finish setting up your account if you don’t see your plan when you want to cancel it. Contact Apple Support if you finished setting up your account but still don’t see your plan.
